DERYA SATIR

Derya Satir is an Istanbul-born editor and filmmaker based in Vienna. Her debut, the experimental short documentary Under the Debris, screened at festivals including ShortTS Trieste, the International Short Film Festival Detmold and the YOUKI International Youth Media Festival, and won several awards.

She was assistant director to Nathalie Borgers on the documentary Scars of a Putsch (2025), which premiered at the Berlinale. She produced and edited the film Viktor, a co-production with Turkey that premiered at Diagonale 2025. Most recently, she directed and edited the music and dance video for Wapi’s Wear That Smile.

While studying Theatre, Film and Media Studies at the University of Vienna, she worked as a director’s assistant and production assistant on film and theatre productions. She is now studying Editing and Production at the Film Academy Vienna, and works as a freelance editor alongside her own directing and producing.
