Derya Satir

Derya Satir is an Istanbul-born editor and director based in Vienna. Rooted in an early passion for music and theater, her work draws on different forms of storytelling and experiences of moving between cultures and languages.

Her directorial debut, the experimental short documentary Under the Debris, screened at international festivals including ShorTS Trieste, the International Short Film Festival Detmold and the YOUKI International Youth Media Festival. Working across roles and genres, she was assistant director to Nathalie Borgers on Scars of a Putsch, which premiered in the Berlinale Forum in 2025.

Having completed her studies in Theater, Film and Media at the University of Vienna, she is now studying Editing and Production at the Film Academy Vienna, and works as a freelance editor alongside her own directing and producing projects.
